Mun Sen holds an exhibition featuring his watercolours at the John Little's department store at Raffles Place from 5-12 January 1953. An article from the Nanyang Siang Pau states that Mun Sen's depictions of Malayan farmlands and natural landscapes visually articulate the ideology of "Nanyang beauty (南阳之美}". An article published by Straits Times states "He [Mun Sen] describes Malaya as 'a paradise for artists'."

Mun Sen held an art exhibition at the Kuala Lumpur Chinese Assembly Hall (吉隆坡中華大會堂), from 29 April to 1 May. Judge Mai (法官麥氏) presided the ribbon-cutting ceremony during the opening. He praised Mun Sen's artworks and commended Yang's generousity to donate proceeds from the sale of his paintings. Sin Chew Jit Poh reported that 20% of the sales was donated to the United Kingdom Red Cross Fund.

On 2 August 1953, Mun Sen exhibited works at the local Hakka Association (本嶼客属公會).This show was opened by politician Luo Qingquan (駱清泉), who gave the opening speech and a tea ceremony was held afterwards. The closing speech was made by Xu Weiqian. A newspaper article reported that Mun Sen's works were given "endless praise".
