The 1955 Poay Cheng Building School Fund Exhibition Catalogue records that it was a good friend of Mun Sen, Mr. Chern Soo Ching 陳樹青 (owner of Nanyang Electrotype Company 南洋電版公司主人) who provided financial support and encouragement for Mun Sen to enter into photo studio business in 1931. Presumbaly this was when the second lot of Mun Sen Studio was converted into a photo studio. This would explain why the 1927 advertisement for Mun Sen studio did not advertise any photography-related services. The 1955 catalogue also states that Shanghai Photo Studio was established in the following year, 1932. However, a newspaper advertisement suggests that Shanghai Photo Studio was already in existence since 1930. If that was the case, Mun Sen studio's photographic venture might've started sometime in 1929.
