Born in his father’s coconut estate in Kuching, Sarawak as Yong Yen Lang 
 
1906


Beginning of 6 year formal education at Tai-Pu where he was tutored in the use of brush and calligraphy

1916


Married sixteen year old Lam Sek Foong with whom he had three sons and two daughters

1917


Left China for Sarawak 

1918


Took employment with Kee Huar bookstore in Singapore.  

1920
Transferred to the Penang branch of Kee Huar bookstore in Carnavon Street, Penang. He remained in Penang until his death.  
 

1937


Helped in the formation of the Nanyang Academy of Art in Singapore 
 
1941


Death of his wife Lam Sek Foong 

 

Married the beautiful Yao Chew Mooi (a descendant of Yap Ah Loy) with whom he had four sons and two daughters

1948


Commissioned by the Department of Commerce and Industry of Malayan Union to paint 8 pictures for the Malayan Stall at the British Industries Fair to be held in London in May 1948

Yong Mun Sen passed away in Penang, Malaysia
